Temple Grandin
Temple Grandin is an animal rights and autism activist, whose autism has helped her greatly to better understand animals and thereby reform slaughterhouses. She has designed better ways to calm and stimulate animals, and applied them to many farms, to the point where American government agencies consulted her regarding methods of monitoring cattle welfare. She designed the center track restrainer system, a revolutionary system which guides cattle gently to where they need to be. The well being of livestock, however, is not the only thing she’s contributed to. Temple Grandin advocated greatly for early intervention when it comes to autism, and spread much awareness about the issue. From giving talks to writing a book, she has completely changed the way the world views both autism and livestock, and should be celebrated for it.
